A key type and an activation count tell you different things.

Key type identification helps you understand what a supported key is: its product, edition, and licensing type. A remaining-count check tells you the current activation allowance reported for a supported MAK key.

Use live keys for quick checks. Move your ongoing workflow into stored inventory with labels, sold status, and a count history you can return to. Recheck details or request a fresh count when you need an updated reading.

01 /

Identify the product and key type

Read supported Windows and Office key details, including the product description, edition, key type, and EULA type.

02 /

Check remaining MAK activations

View the count returned for a supported MAK key, plus its check status. A key-type result does not imply that a remaining count is available.

03 /

Review the result in context

Keep the key with a useful label. For stored keys, compare later readings with the count history rather than relying on a single snapshot.

For Microsoft’s explanation of remaining MAK activations, see its Volume Activation Management Tool documentation .

What is ActivKeys?

ActivKeys is a key-checking and inventory workspace for product key sellers. Identify supported key types, check remaining MAK activations, organize stored keys, and review how counts change over time.

Can I check remaining activations for every volume key?

Remaining activation counts are available for supported MAK keys. Volume licensing also includes KMS keys, which do not use the same remaining-activation model. Identifying a key type and checking a MAK count are different checks.

Can history tell me whether a supplier shared my key?

Unexpected count changes can give you a reason to investigate and discuss a key with your supplier. Count history alone cannot identify who activated a key or prove that a distributor resold it.

Can I compare changes with customer usage?

Yes. Compare time-stamped changes with your own sales and customer records. ActivKeys does not identify the individual customers or devices behind Microsoft activations.

How much does ActivKeys cost, and how do I start?

ActivKeys costs $20 USD per month. Email [email protected] to ask a question or request a workspace.
